"The artist...is also a born adventurer. His explorations, unlike those of a tourist, are rewarded by the discovery of beauty spots unmentioned in the guide books, and with tireless curiosity and an exceptional proneness to wonderment, he will come upon objects of remarkable interest overlooked or even shunned by more disciplined observers."

Raven at Wessenden Head

Raven at Wessenden Head
Reduction Linocut, 12 colours. 190mm x 170mm.

Finally finished the Raven print. The view is the Wessenden Valley on the northern fringe of the Peak District National Park, looking down towards the Colne Valley. The print was made for the cover of the Bird Club 2010 report and done about half up of the report size. Hopefully it will make a striking image when reduced.

Looks great, Stuart! You are on a roll! Thanks for sharing, and thanks for putting reduction prints out in front of the birding community.

Hi Sherrie,
Thanks for the encouragement. The Oystercatcher cover received some favourable comments on publication so hopefully this will be as well received.

This is another beautiful image. It occurs to me that these kind of prints would make a nice series of note cards, perhaps for the RSPB for example.

Hi Stuart, Do like the raven. Interesting to see how you only part ink the block to get all the different colours in. Works well. What inks are you using?

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the comment, I had been thinking about having some cards printed, I can't decide which image to go with though.

Hi Ian.
Thanks for the comment and welcome to my blog.
I use Nerchau inks from Great Art Supplies. I tried Schminke Inks but couldn't get them to work. It was interesting to read on your blog that you had the same sort of trouble with them. The Nerchau ones work fine though.
