"The artist...is also a born adventurer. His explorations, unlike those of a tourist, are rewarded by the discovery of beauty spots unmentioned in the guide books, and with tireless curiosity and an exceptional proneness to wonderment, he will come upon objects of remarkable interest overlooked or even shunned by more disciplined observers."

Augustus John, R.A.

Grey Mares Tail

Two colours printed on this since the last post, colours 3 and 4. I fogot to photograph colour 3, the brighter green. Colour 4 is a darker bluer green. I am trying to create the atmosphere of a northern haze. The sun is directly behind the hill on the left, casting it into a deep blue hazy shadow. In contrast to the strong sunlight and deep shadows on the right.

Colour 5 adds some darker shadows to the left. This looks a bit strong here, hopefully the next colour will push it back a little.

New Print

Not much to see yet.

First colour is a pale warm toned grey. As not much carving was needed for the next colour, this was quickly followed by pale blue.

Any one familiar with the landscape of the scottish borders may already have recognised this.
