"The artist...is also a born adventurer. His explorations, unlike those of a tourist, are rewarded by the discovery of beauty spots unmentioned in the guide books, and with tireless curiosity and an exceptional proneness to wonderment, he will come upon objects of remarkable interest overlooked or even shunned by more disciplined observers."

Dent

A quiet corner in Dent.
3 colour Reduction Linocut
177mm x 120mm.

Finished the demonstration piece. For me not a typical print, Its only two colours plus black for a start and I don't usually go in for a black outline and border round everything. So alongside my usual work it looks a little strange. However, it served its purpose as a demonstration print, as I printed the final colour as part of my talk last friday at Doncaster Art Gallery. Not being a particularly confident public speaker it was quite helpful to have something to do whilst talking.

Now to get back to some proper work. If all goes well, next week should see a big piece I have been working on finished. It will have to be a full reveal though as I haven't been photographing any of the stages.

The cool colours and white areas give it a wintry look, which may have been what you intended. In any case it seems in keeping with the subject, and you've certainly caught the character of Dent. Brings back memories!

Hi Keith

Its quite a while since I have been in Dent too. The print was made from a drawing done years ago. It has worked quite well, I'm tempted to make a larger version of it.

I like this Stuart - much better than my recent attempt at linocut.
I was trying to work out which colour you did first, then scrolled down to your previous posts! Will watch your blog posts with interest.

Hi Frank
Welcome to my blog. I regularly post step by step stages of the prints I am working on. Most are a little bit more complicated than this one though.
