Goldcrest
Britains smallest bird. This one sketched as it foraged in the Silver Birch tree in the garden this morning. The first time I've recorded the species in the garden in the 11 years we have lived here.
I studied illustration at Dyfed College of Art, Carmarthen, graduating in 1984. The works shown on this site are based on observations and drawings made directly from life in the field. The field sketches are mostly drawn using a Rotring Art Pen or a soft 6B pencil. The finished studio pieces are generally linocuts but I have recently started working with drypoints and mezzotints.
