Wood Wasp
This female Wood Wasp Urocerus gigas was dropped on my desk at work by two of the fitters who had come across it whilst working in Manchester. Its the first one I've seen, shame it wasn't a live specimen.
I studied illustration at Dyfed College of Art, Carmarthen, graduating in 1984. The works shown on this site are based on observations and drawings made directly from life in the field. The field sketches are mostly drawn using a Rotring Art Pen or a soft 6B pencil. The finished studio pieces are generally linocuts but I have recently started working with drypoints and mezzotints.
