"The artist...is also a born adventurer. His explorations, unlike those of a tourist, are rewarded by the discovery of beauty spots unmentioned in the guide books, and with tireless curiosity and an exceptional proneness to wonderment, he will come upon objects of remarkable interest overlooked or even shunned by more disciplined observers."

Fieldfares Linocut

Fieldfares.
8 colour Reduction Linocut. 190mm x 170mm.
The result of work made over the last week or so. I took a lot of time trying to work out the composition and came up with a number of different solutions playing around with the groupings and the sizes of the birds. So I may yet have another go at this print.

As it happens I've just been watching a flock of Fieldfares in the field outside today.

If you're going to have another go at this, I wonder about the background being similar in colour to the birds. I find it detracts from them a bit for me.

Hi Keith,

It does for me too, its way too dark.
Haven't seen any down here yet myself, these were sketched last winter.
